Pet Companions
Pet Companions 1.2.2 – Real skins and a new cat
Order Board and Expedition Marks
- New block Order Board (planks + book + ink sac) – stands on two posts, hangs flat on a wall like a sign or hangs from the ceiling on chains: your own easy, medium and hard orders, renewed every Minecraft day – also on worlds with the daylight cycle turned off (orders you have started stay)
- Mostly "bring me X items", sometimes finds from one of your expedition areas (rare finds only in small amounts); partial deliveries count, and you can reroll one order per day
- Missing animals: sometimes a villager has lost a pet – accept the order to get a search map, find the animal (on hard it is locked in an unbreakable cage – defeat its pillager guards to open it), put it on a lead and bring it back to the Order Board where you accepted the order – hostile mobs hunt it on the way. If it dies, the order fails
- Every order is its own pinned note on a cork board: a plain note (easy), bordered paper with a blue seal (medium) or a gold-framed document with a purple seal (hard)
- Reward: the new Expedition Mark (more for harder orders) plus a few emeralds
- The Expedition Leader now only takes Expedition Marks for calling a companion back – no emeralds any more
The Expedition Leader's tavern
- A new building: stone ground floor, half-timbered upper floor, front gable, chimney, roof terrace and tavern sign
- Inside: taproom with bar, barrels, tables and fireplace, an Order Board on the wall, the leader's map room with Expedition Camp, and guest rooms with a supply chest upstairs
- Built in the style of each village type; rare in villages and very rarely on its own in the Overworld (always far apart) – the Expedition Leader already lives there
Lend companions to friends
- In the companion menu, "Lend" makes one of your companions available to everyone on the server
- In the Expedition Camp, "Borrow…" lets you take a lent companion along as team partner – even while its owner is offline
- It counts as a team partner; its level counts only a little above your own highest companion. It helps one player at a time. As long as you lend it, you cannot use it yourself (no summoning, no own expeditions) – take it back in the companion menu
- After a successful expedition the owner's companion gets a share of its expedition experience (a few times per day)
Cat and ocelot are now one companion
- The ocelot is merged into the cat. The cat is now rare, so there are 26 companions instead of 27. Seals and expedition home stay the cat's
- To unlock the cat you now also need to tame a cat (besides fishing) – if you already have the cat, nothing changes
- Velvet Paws is gone – the cat now has two effects like the other rare companions (fall protection: chicken and slime)
- Stalker (from the ocelot): mobs notice you later, and your first hit from sneaking on an enemy that has not targeted you hits much harder (not against bosses)
- Cat's eye: phantoms do not attack you – and now creepers stop hissing and run away from you too
- The ocelot's speed bonus is gone (rabbit and polar bear are the speed companions)
- New cat skin Ocelot, found on jungle expeditions
- Existing worlds: if you had both, the higher one (level, then experience) becomes your cat; an ocelot turns into a cat with the ocelot look. The ocelot's gem skins are gone
New
- Real textures for the Gold, Frost, Shadow, Emerald, Ruby and Amethyst skins of all 16 companions without vanilla variants – before they were only a color filter that hardly changed dark mobs like the enderman. Glowing parts, baby companions and the ghast's shooting face get them too
- The zombie's skins are now Husk and Drowned (found on desert and ocean expeditions)
- Gem skins give off particles in their color: glittering dust plus golden sparkles, snowflakes, ash, green sparks, crimson spores or purple sparks. Can be turned off in the companion settings
Balancing
- Every companion now has as many effects as its rarity allows (common 1, rare 2, epic 3, legendary 4) – several effects that only handed out a vanilla potion effect are gone
- The wolf and the polar bear level up a bit faster, in line with the other companions of their rarity
- The turtle keeps its Shell, but no longer locks up when you are low on health
- The panda no longer adds knockback to your hits, so stunned enemies stay within reach
- The axolotl no longer heals you while you are wet – Play dead stays its rescue
- The dolphin no longer gives Dolphin's Grace (real dolphins already do) – it is now your sea explorer with Treasure Sense and faster boats
- Stews no longer heal you instantly with the mooshroom – it keeps its daily stew and slower hunger
- The elder guardian no longer gives Water Breathing (bring a turtle shell, potion or conduit) – faster mining underwater, Mining Fatigue immunity, more damage and Keeper of the deep stay
- The wither skeleton no longer gives Strength after a kill – Wither hits, immunity, life steal and the bonus against withered enemies stay
Fixes
- Button tooltips in the companion menu and the expedition camp no longer flicker
- The ghast no longer moves stiffly behind your head: it glides smoothly, circles around you when you turn, looks where you look and turns towards its target in combat
- The blaze companion gives off much less smoke
- A lost search map can be fetched again at the Order Board – you always get the same map back
