Changelog

Pet Companions 1.1.2 – Expedition Camp, gift training & axolotl

New

  • Expedition Camp: a new block (cartography table + compass + spyglass) – expeditions are now sent from the camp
  • New expedition menu with a map of ten areas: forest, jungle, ocean, snowy tundra, swamp, caves, village, mushroom island, the Nether and the End
  • Teams: send two companions together – Haste makes the trip shorter, Safety raises the chance of success, both get the same experience and training
  • Camp upgrades: run up to three expeditions at once, with a better success chance and shorter trips
  • Exploration: areas get explored the more often you go there – better loot, Talent Shards and Talent Crystals unlock step by step, the rarest finds only on long expeditions
  • Area looks: every area has its own skins to find
  • Axolotl: new effect Play Dead – when your health drops low, the axolotl helps you recover quickly (replaces its old regeneration)
  • New companion menu with portraits, selection, experience and training bars and all actions in one place
  • Settings: show companions as portraits or spawn eggs
  • New look for the Talent Seer (hooded robe with circlet and amulet) and the Seer's Altar (a crystal shrine with golden corner pillars)

Changes

  • The chance of success depends on how well the companion fits the area (home or suitable), its level and the talent that counts there
  • Expeditions can fail: the companion comes back without loot and needs a short rest
  • Gift training: companions also train their gift through their own way of moving and fighting (slime bouncing, rabbit and ocelot running, safe landings, wolf close combat, ocelot sneak attacks and more)
  • Click a card to select a companion, double-click to summon it; breaking a seal and changing the look are now buttons instead of a right-click menu
  • The expedition button in the companion menu is gone
  • Turtle: now unlocked by breeding a turtle instead of finding a turtle scute
  • Companion menu: unlocked companions come first, sorted by rarity
  • Companion names are colored by rarity everywhere (common white, rare aqua, epic purple, legendary gold)
  • Expedition Camp: a standing lantern on the table instead of the flag, the side lantern is gone
  • Mode wheel: hold V, move the mouse and release to switch between Aggressive, Defend and Passive
  • Mark a target: press R on a creature and your companion attacks it in any mode, even creepers, golems and neutral mobs (never villagers, wandering traders, player-built iron golems or allays that belong to a player)
  • Send your companion: press R on a block and it walks there, then goes back to what it was doing
  • New icon set for the companion and expedition menus
  • Sharper companion portraits and heads in the menus
  • Bee and panda: plants they help grow now show green sparkles
  • Expeditions give low-level companions noticeably more experience, and well-explored areas give more experience
  • Teams that fail an expedition still bring back a little: one basic find, some experience and training (no exploration progress)
  • Fixed: breeding turtles now counts for unlocks and seal tasks
  • Fixed: the Expedition Camp, Seer's Altar and Talent Crystal now appear in the recipe book
  • Admin command /mcpets recover makes companions ready again: ends recovery, expedition rest and ability cooldowns
